I am a 20 yr. old who has wanted an old VW since before I could drive. I've found a '71 Super Beetl ewith an AUTOMATIC STICK (no clutch) which is really great and rare for me because I could actually drive it now! It has a good paint job, nice interior and I have yet to drive it, but the guys asking 3500 OBO and I'm think he'll let it go between 2500 and 3000 depending on how desperate he is for the cash in hand. I won't have the cash for a couple of months so I'm thinking about making a small deposit to see if he'll take it to hold it til like September. I love the car and can just see how I would take my time to have my dream car. I'm not mechanically inclined and my hubby can do some basic things, but VWs have so much info available through the internet and stuff, would it be dumb of me to get this car not as a daily driver and learn as I go to fix it up? You know the classic VW pastel green ? I'm thinking that color with the white between the wheel wells and on the doors ( don't know what the look is called) with white interior and white wheelwells...or maybe pacific blue with the white...either way, I'm so excited. Sorry this is so long, but I'm ready to just run out and buy it ASAP, but could I get screwed over in the long run? Is the price high? AUTO stick makes it a bit more it seems like but this isn't a junkyard car so...
