Hi all, I'm not new to vws but am new to wiring one. I bought a 72 Super 2 months ago. The more I dig into fixing things the more I find wrong. The latest is the wiring. The gen lite hasn't worked since I bought it. I realized it at the time thinking it would be a simple fix after seeing that there was no serious rust on this. Now I see that the previois owner(s) did some serious hacking on the electrical system. The blue gen wire that was going into the speedometer buld socket was cut off and looked burnt. Lots of engine compartment wires were spliced poorly and the wires were oil soaked from a previous oil leak that I've since fixed. Now I'm changing the main engine harness. I've changed the old for new wires at the fuse box, no problems there. However, I'm trying to pull the old harness through the feedthrough on the left side at the front part of the engine compartment. It will not budge, there is some sound deadening material that the Bug me video guys say to remove which is keepng the harness from moving. How do I get it out?
